1.0 Introduction

Professionals working at different levels face varieties of problems in their day to day work.It is important to deal with those problems in a systematic and scientific way.Every individuals need to empower themselves in identifying the causes of such difficulties and finding solutions in a systematic ways. This unit deals with basic aspects relating to solving the day to day problems in a systematic way.

As we all know that performance of an individual is measured in terms of some well established indicators.Similarly, performance of teacher determines the fruitfulness of an educational programme. It is essential on the part of a teacher to solve the problems of school, classroom, and children successfully in a meaningful way.Therefore teacher working at different level should have a sound knowledge on the fundamental concepts of action research. This unit certainly aims at helping teachers to build their competencies to solve their day to day problems systematically for making the situation better.How best a teacher can apply the systematic approaches to solve their own problem for improving their practices depends upon knowledge of certain fundamental approaches of action research. Action research is a means of improving the practices of practitioner better.

This unit can be used as a training tool for orientation of teachers/teacher educators/other functionaries on Action Research. Let us go through the objectives of this unit for further clarification about the content of this unit.

Developing a suitable project proposal is considered to be one of the important aspects of action research. Practitioner need to develop a clear understanding about the ways and means of solving a problem. A proposal complete in all respect shows the ability of the researcher to undertake such proposal.
